About

Ryan Kaskel circa 2009
My name is (obviously) Ryan Kaskel and I was born in Miami, Florida on January 22, 1987. I spent all my childhood years in South Florida attending Pinecrest Elementary School, Gulliver Middle School (for fifth grade only), Ransom Everglades Lower School (grades six through eight) and all of my high school years at Miami Palmetto Senior High. I am the eldest of three kids born to my loving parents William Kaskel and Robin Wolfe. I have two natural brothers, Danny, 19, and Kevin, 15 as well as a stepbrother, Michael, the son of my great step mom Kim Kaskel. Danny currently attends the University of Arizona and Kevin goes to Gulliver Predatory. Michael attends my high school alma mater.
At the moment I am enrolled at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts where I am pursuing a degree in history with an emphasis on Christianity in the high middle ages, particularly twelfth century Cistercian monasticism. Despite the religious nature of my studies, I am a devout Atheist. Aside from history, I have a wide range of interests from trains and network programming to scotch and extrasolar planetary systems.

This purpose of my website is to share thoughts and ideas on my eclectic and sometimes obscure interests. This site is hosted by Webfaction.com, which I highly recommend to all readers seeking to create their own presence on the web. The company is very supportive of the Django web application framework, which I often use for both personal and commercial projects (see LanguageLab.com for an example). Django itself is written in Python, my language of choice for computer programming. Feel free to leave comments on all blog posts and pages, or contact me privately.
